Hi Ev,

I'm seriously late, but I finally had the time to sit and spin while listening to this last podcast. Probably just in time for you to make the next one too, right? haha

I thought I might mention something that could possibly make it a bit easier for you when you do your podcasts. How about a text block along the sidebar, and it would have to be either above all of your posts, in the main column, or near the very top of the sidebar, but it would contain all of your contact information. E-mail, Ravelry information and group, blog information, podcast notes info, etc.

Just a thought unless you feel it works best by mentioning it at the beginning of each podcast. After all, it is your show and I was thinking it just might make it a little easier for you by doing that.

Now I have to run over to the Podcast Notes to find out more about this new shawl you are talking about! :)

Have a great day.

I have to tell you, as I sat here spinning my alpaca, listening to the podcast, and you were giving your "excuse" or reasoning for starting yet another project, I just cracked up laughing aloud. But you are totally correct. You need no excuse when starting out on a "learning experience." And I hope it turns out to be a fun experience at the same time. :)

Well, I finally got a chance to sit still long enough to listen. I was 3 podcasts behind, so I got a lot of spinning done at the same time, so my spinning wheel thanks you too...... :)

I would gladly have exchanged some heat for our rain. We have had far too much of it. My lawn sqooshes underfoot as you walk out to the garden and flower beds. We need rubbers to do anything outside. Thankfully we are going to see 2 days of sunshine. I'll need it to dry the lawn so it can be mowed. It grows like mad with all this rain.

For your granddaughter, Trinity, I think maybe it's time she has her own skein of yarn and a pair of knitting needles. She could have an entire scarf made for Grandma by the next time you see her. Wouldn't that be a treasure?

I am so glad I finally found the time to sit down and catch up with you. I have missed our little "sessions." :)

I say Grandma, it sounds like next time you had best not forget something for Miss Trinity to knit. As she is doing so well, maybe even present her with her very first pair of knitting needles and a skein of yarn for her to knit that first scarf with. Then the next time you came to visit, she could present it to you. I would be proud as could too, if I had a grandchild that learn as quickly and retained the knowledge so well at such a tender age.

I agree that you need to me making more hats and sweaters for everyone. Especially if they are going to love and appreciate your time and work. None of my family seem to care, so you are one very lucky lady in that area. But as you are an inspiration to me with your lace knitting, I do hope that is not completely put aside.......LOL

I know full well that Canada enjoys wonderful Summer weather, as we do. But it sounds as though you are faring far better than the lower 48 this year. At least in comparison with the NE area, where I am from. I have yet to see 85º. Our Summer seems be stuck in the 70's this year. I have never in my life seen a Summer to compare with this one. I don't like it at all. haha

Happy Anniversary. I'm glad that you and John were able to get away for some personal time together. :)

I guess you know that caught me by surprise. I never expected to hear you reading my comment, so as I sat here spinning, listening to your podcast, I had to pause because the tears were flowing.

My Father has been gone for many years now, but the pain of losing all those years before he actually left us is still very real and very raw.

That was a very lovely tribute to your Dad. I wish for you both that he could have heard and understood every word. My best to you and both of your parents.

Late, but better than never. I was very ill for over a week, and I'm afraid I never even considered knitting or spinning, and rarely sat down at my computer. But I am well now and trying to catch up. So of course I had to set up my wheel, gather my wool, and spin as I listened to this last podcast. It's becoming a habit now. LOL

I wish I could share some wonderful moments with my own Father, but he was a stern man that worked well until after dark most days. He was never very affectionate, but he was demanding when I was a child. Later in life, as I was finally getting to know him better as one adult to another, he was stricken with Alzheimer's and Parkinsons Disease. Now my memories are clouded with the visions of a man I never really knew, and when it was likely that I might get to know him better, that opportunity was taken away from us both by a horrible illness. But I am sure I will enjoy listening to your podcast in honor of your own Father. I hope he doing as well as can be expected, and that he is not suffering too much.

Well, I got quite a little bit of spinning done, and I enjoyed listening to how you begin designing your own sweater.

While listening to your last podcast, in regard to your own sweater, I was thinking at the time that now would be a great time to be working on it, and then by this coming fall, it will be finished and ready to keep you warm. I see you are doing just that. Smart lady!

My Father also suffered with Alzheimer's for many years before he passed away several years back. I know the heartache and pain you feel for the Father that you have lost even as he continues to live.

Take care :)

Hi Ev,

I have been so busy over the past month I am just now getting to this, your 3rd podcast. It was very amusing as well as informative, and I have to tell you, it works great as listening material as I sit here and spin.

I recently acquired 2 sheep fleeces and 3 alpaca fleeces. I started washing the sheep fleeces first, they were much dirtier. I have the one fleece done, and most of it is all dry now. So today I began combing it to spin with. I had a nice little pile of it all combed and rolled into little balls of roving and I sat down to listen to your podcast while spinning my hand made roving. It made the spinning go much nicer listening to your calm voice as I spin. I also sat here and chuckled a few times. You are doing great Ev, and I am really enjoying your podcasts.

OK, now to go listen to the next one while I have the chance, and get a little more spinning done............. :)

Have a great day.

I completely forgot about the question! ha!

I think you said in your podcast that 14 stitches is too loose and 16 too tight. Is knitting to guage really that sensitive? Would it be better to make more swatches than less swatches when you aren't sure?
Thanks!

Thanks for a really great episode! I have a quick question please. Being new to knitting, guage is my enemy right now, so you have helped clarify it a lot.
I have had pulled pork sandwiches, but always when someone else made them. I can't tell you the ingredients, but they are very juicy, and loaded with BBQ sauce. I want to try your version since they sound so much better.
I have made a version of a pulled pork sandwich but with beef, and t was really good. On that one the BBQ sauce is mixed with other things and the flavor is a bit muted. I also love the idea of toasting the rolls or buns.
Keep up the good work. Your podcast is a lot of fun!
