About
May 16th, 2009 by stringsnthings
On March 1, 2005, I started a blog. Four years later, Strings ‘n Things is still going strong. Recently, my husband and I bought an iMac and I suddenly had the technology to put together a podcast. Having listened to a few podcasts, I decided to go ahead and “just do it”! I’m still learning and I appreciate all constructive criticism. Constructive, ok?
I’ve been a knitter almost all my life. I first learned at about the age of seven; it was expected that all good Dutch girls be able to knit and/or crochet. It made you a better wife and mother, according to my mother; well, at least I’d be able to keep my family in sweaters and socks. Even though I knew how, for quite a few years I didn’t knit at all. For that matter, I didn’t really do any kind of crafting. Then, when my youngest daughter was born, the urge to knit struck again. I picked up the needles, gathered my crochet hooks, bought a sewing machine and jumped into the world of crafting. I haven’t stopped since.
My love of all things crafty has also helped gain employment; for a number of years, I was assistant manager, then manager of a craft store. I’ve even worked in a couple of yarn shops over the years. These days, I spend my days working full time in a print shop, where I’m in charge of digital reproduction (photocopying) and I do bindery, as well as some computer work. When I’m not working, you’ll usually find me knitting or doing something on the computer.
This podcast is another way for me to share my thoughts, not just about knitting, but about all sorts of things that interest me. I hope that if they interest me, they may also interest others. I welcome your comments and suggestions; feel free to leave a comment here or email me at evskae at gmail dot com (you know, change the “at” and “dot” to their respective symbols). I look forward to hearing from you; you ARE my inspiration!
